Michael Kamis, P.Eng.
Mr. Kamis is the Principal and President of APEX. Mr. Kamis has over 30 years of industry experience in all aspects of the petroleum industry, with emphasis in reservoir and evaluation engineering, both domestically and internationally. He has participated in all aspects of petroleum engineering with emphasis on reserves and economic feasibility evaluations.

ASSOCIATES

Susan R. Eaton, P.Geol., P.Geoph., M.Sc.
Ms. Eaton is a project manager with twenty-eight years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Her technical and business acumen spans Canada, the United States, the North Sea, Eastern Europe and Central and South America. She speaks and writes French, Spanish and German.

Educated in geology, geophysics and journalism, Ms. Eaton possesses strong technical, communication, and business skills which were honed while working as vice-president of exploration for three junior oil and gas companies. At a senior corporate level, she has experience in risk management, aboriginal affairs and regulatory compliance with respect to Health, Safety and Environment issues.

Ms. Eaton’s area of oil and gas expertise is in pulling together and managing the entire exploration process – identifying play types; land acquisition; joint venture negotiations, including international Production Sharing Contracts; geological and geophysical interpretations, including basin analysis; Net Present Value (NPV) evaluation of acquisition and divestiture opportunities; raising private and public equity for oil and gas companies; the field acquisition of seismic data; and the drilling of wells.

Ms. Eaton commenced her oil and gas career in 1980 as a petroleum geologist with Esso Resources Canada Limited. During her career, she has had experience in both exploration and exploitation activities with Suncor Energy Inc., Husky Oil Operations Ltd., the Government of Canada, and with junior oil and gas companies and independent consulting firms. She is a dually registered professional geologist and geophysicist with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.

For a decade, Ms. Eaton has consulted to Canadian and American oil and gas companies – from junior companies to multinational companies – on corporate due diligence and financial, strategic, and technical evaluations. She advises institutional investment firms, hedge fund managers and equity financiers on the Canadian oil and gas sector, including Alberta’s oil sands.

As the Canadian correspondent for Explorer Magazine (published in Tulsa by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists), Ms. Eaton reports on Canadian exploration trends and discoveries. She also writes on emerging technologies in the oil and gas sector, contributing frequently to Calgary-based Alberta Oil Magazine, Business Edge and New Technology Magazine.

 

Michael Olanson, PhD., P.Eng
Dr. Olanson is a Petroleum Engineer with post-graduate training and over thirty years experience in the oil and gas industry. He has worked and lived in five countries on three continents, speaks five languages fluently (including both technical and current Russian), and is equally at home and productive on the rig floor, mechanical shop, research lab or at the drawing board.

 

Rod Lachmuth
Business & Energy Analyst
Rod has over 35 years of Oil and Gas evaluation and business experience. He has specialized in reservoir and financial analysis along with developing complex software programs. Rod has evaluated wells in virtually every producing horizon in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. He has Canadian Public company experience as both an officer and Director. He has provided assistance in reservoir analysis for numerous Calgary Engineering firms. Rod was employed as an evaluation and business analyst with two major Canadian banks for 13 years. He also worked with a major petroleum data firm in developing a complex reservoir analysis program, a material balance program a nodal analysis program and a fluid flow in pipes program. Through his 35 years in the industry Rod has developed a large network of associates and experience.

 

RICHARD J. HAWES, P.GEOL., M.SC., M.B.A
Mr Hawes has over 35 years of varied experience in the oil and gas industry. A senior geologist and project analyst, having the proven ability to originate, develop, technically and financially evaluate, and manage projects.
He is experienced in all clastic and carbonate, stratigraphic and structural, conventional oil and gas plays, and their economic viability, in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and on the Canadian Onshore and Offshore East Coast. He has also transferred this experience to international projects around the world. Mr. Hawes has experience from the ground up as both a geological technical advisor and working geologist as well as extensive financial and management experience as an Officer and Director of Public companies.

 

Douglas M. MacLellan, P. Eng
Doug has over 30 years experience in oil and gas after graduating from U of S with a B.Sc. Chem. Eng.  Over his career, he has worked positions from junior engineer up to and including President, COO, and CEO of public companies.  His experience and expertise spans Canada, the United States, and CIS, with focus in the Engineering and Production sectors of the business. 

He is a Professional Engineer with a background in production, reservoir, and economic evaluation in gas, conventional oil, and oil sands (in situ and mineable), as well as drilling and facility and has over a decade of consulting experience in all areas of the energy business including wind energy, ethanol projects, and unconventional gas where his involvement has included both financial and technical evaluations. 

He has gained executive experience in developing and carrying out the financing of a start-up public company, establishing field operations overseas as well as managing a heavy oil, and an oil sands group with a major oil company.  Doug has successfully managed international negotiations, communications, and personal relationships with an array of senior government officials here in Canada and abroad.  His managerial experience has been gained through coordinating and directing the initiation, development, and growth of a major petroleum project and his practical engineering experience has been developed in applying technological advances in horizontal drilling to field success. 

Doug has demonstrated his public skills through active involvement in the CPA (Canadian Petroleum Association now CAPP), CHOA (Canadian Heavy Oil Association), ACR (Alberta Chamber of Resources) and the Oil Sands Task Force.

 

Robert Nicholas Martin Professional Geologist (P. Geol.)
Robert Martin P. Geol. has over thirty years of petroleum and minerals exploration & exploitation experience in Canada and internationally. Past President of LongBow Energy, a small junior successfully revived and restored to profitability; and currently consultant to and Vice President Exploration of Daybreak Oil and Gas. Previously developed five projects for a private start up company resulting in the discovery of oil at Maidstone and Paradise Hills Saskatchewan . In early 1990’s helped develop a gas project in the Rainbow area of Northern Alberta with a private drilling fund. Recent work with Daybreak Oil and Gas has resulted in successful wells in the San Joaquin Basin California, Tensas Parish and St Landry Parish, Louisiana, and Corpus Christi, Texas.

Has, overseen day to day operations, supervision of oil and gas exploration projects, review and selection of exploration and development projects, development of business plans, provide technical support for investor relations, negotiate mineral rights acquisitions, review of major contracts and other duties related to the functions of a public oil and gas company.
